PRESS RELEASE

Dave Muller: medium medium medium medium medium medium

24 June – 1 August 2008

Opening reception: Friday, 20 June, 6 to 8 pm

Anthony Meier Fine Arts is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by Los Angeles artist Dave Muller.  Exhibiting at the gallery for the second time, Muller’s show consists of works on paper on a grand scale.

The exhibition centers on six forms of musical recording media: cassette tapes, compact disks, an iPod, record albums, reel to reel tapes and 8-track cassettes.

Music invokes a visceral response from the listener.  Nostalgia, memory, the passage of time both general and specific – music encompasses these transient elements and makes them tangible.  Muller’s work embraces these aspects of music and, through documentation of its packaging, infuses the subject with questions of evolution, human manipulation, sociology and politics.
