The exhibition "Pour ne pas dormir: Jockum Nordström" will be on view at La Criée centre d'art contemporain, Rennes, France from 6 February to 9 May 2021.
A major figure on the Swedish art scene, Jockum Nordström has devoted over thirty years to his mischievous mix of worlds quotidian and oneiric, human and animal, abstract and naive, natural and architectural. At La Criée Centre for Contemporary Art he’s presenting a selection of recent works: collages, drawings and cardboard sculptures.
"Jockum Nordström | Bruno Knutman" will be on view at Tegnerforbundet, Oslo from 16 August to 27 September 2020.
The solo exhibition "Jockum Nordstrom: Without Lantern" will be on view at the Skissernas Museum, Sweden from 9 June to 18 October 2020.
The summer and fall exhibition presents Jockum Nordström, one of Sweden's most internationally acclaimed artists. The central work, The Anchor Hits the Sand, is a powerfully evocative and meditative shadow play with music. In addition to the shadow play the exhibition presents sculptures, collages and sketches, showing Nordström's versatility and artistic process.
David Zwirner is pleased to present an exhibition of new work, "The Anchor Hits the Sand," by Jockum Nordström (b. 1963) at the gallery’s London location from 22 November to 20 December 2019. The exhibition will feature a new immersive environment that plays with light, shadow, and movement, as well as a range of new collages and works on paper.
Expanding on the characteristic motifs and imaginative spirit that have come to define the artist’s broader oeuvre, Nordström’s light and shadow environments employ a cast of objects within a fantastical and psychologically charged environment that is at once vaguely familiar, evocative, and meditative.
Jockum Nordström is included in the exhibition "Kees Goudzwaard - Jockum Nordström - Bart Stole - Mircea Suciu" at Zeno X Gallery from 30 October to 14 December 2019.
Jockum Nordström is included in the exhibition "Das Kollegium" at the Grafikstiftung Neo Rauch from 26 May 2019 - 3 May 2020. The exhibition is bringing together works by 19 international artists born between 1934 and 1982, friends, companions and forerunners of Neo Rauch, who the artist invited to take part in a joint group exhibition. The exhibition focuses on graphic works, ranging from linocuts to lithographs, etchings and collages, some of which have been created specifically for the exhibition, amongst them two large format works on paper by Neo Rauch.
le Signe, National Graphic Design Center in Chaumont is pleased to present the group exhibition, Chemin Papier, l'illustration et ses marges, with works by Jockum Nordstrom. The exhibition will be on view from 31 March - 16 September 2018.
Chemin Papier, l'illustration et ses marges offers an answer to the question, "what is illustration today?" by regarding the personal approach of fifteen among the most talented contemporary artists and showing the series of original drawings and printed matter (books, posters, fanzines, objects, periodicals). This selection of authors with their eclectic universes shows the variety of media and expression used in a creative pathway that inevitably includes drawing and paper. The exhibition will extend beyond the scope of illustration and focus on the ties between drawing and publishing, between illustration and graphic design, and more generally consider illustration as the crossroads between a variety of applied arts.
Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans is pleased to present Jockum Nordström: Why Is Everything A Rag - the first solo museum exhibition of the Stockholm-based artist Jockum Nordström in the Americas.
Inhabiting liminal spaces heralded as much by surrealism as by folk traditions, Nordström looks to the cultural, psychological and physical margins of society. Positioning his audience as voyeurs into derelict buildings, soundscapes and private lives—Nordström explores the conditions of “outsider” to develop an oeuvre of outlines—physical perimeters, cut-outs and scraps—creative edges of civilization. Organized by the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans, Why Is Everything A Rag brings Nordström—for the first time—to the city that has shaped his artistic imagination since the early ‘90s and to the home of the music he continues to make as a member of the band, Joakim Ahlund & Jockum Nordström.
Zeno X is pleased to present a selection of new works by artist Jockum Nordström, 8 November - 3 December 2017
Preview: Sunday, 5 November, 3 - 6 pm.
Jockum Nordström will be included in QUARTET at the National Gallery of Iceland. The National Gallery of Iceland begins its exhibition program in the new year with an exhibition that brings together four contemporary artists: Gauthier Hubert (1967), Chantal Joffe (1969), Jockum Nordström (1963) and Tumi Magnússon (1957). All four center their work on the human being itself. The presentation of their work revolves around art itself and its history, both ancient and modern, and they take quite disparate approaches to historical points of departure.
Jockum Nordström draws, cuts and affixes childlike images of society as it often appears to us in historical soap operas about masters and servants. Yet vice and immorality simmer beneath the surface.
Jockum Nordström announced as the winner of the 8th Guerlain Prize for Contemporary Drawing by the Foundation D'Art Contemporain.
